WAI: the final report
Walls and Integration: Images of Europe building (WAI), is a project, presented by the Municipality of Macerata (Comune di Macerata) of within the Europe for Citizens Program and approved by the European Commission. It gained funding for one hundred thousand Euros (project code 562858-CITIZ-1-2015-1-IT-CITIZ-REMEM - CUP I251I15000070001).
The WAI project ended in April 2017.
The WAI project events, that engaged citizenship, were held over 18 months.
These events were: photographic exhibitions, seminars and conferences. They were aimed at stimulating the collective memory of citizens within a reflection starting from the ideological divisions of the past for inclining them toward a comprehension of the historical, political and social changes that led to the formation of contemporary Europe.
The partners of this project (5 October 2015 - 4 April 2017) were: Osservatorio di genere (the Gender Observatory), a cultural association in Macerata (Italy), which contributed to the creation of the network and to the scientific coordination, the high-school Istituto Tecnico Commerciale Gentili di Macerata, Università degli studi di Trento, l'Università degli studi di Padova (Italy), University of Oviedo (Spain), SUATEA, a Spanish trade union (Spain), Vytautas Magnus University (Lituania), Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität (Germany), University College Cork (Ireland), and the Eötvös Loránd University (Hungary). All these institutions bring their expertise in design and management of European projects.
The aims of the project were largely achieved through the engagement of European citizens, of the experts of the fields, of the partners project people in charge and of the participants in activities and events, in particular the young generations; see the following information template.
