Faustino Zapico Álvarez (Mieres del Camín, Asturies, 5-XII-1970)  has a degree in History & Geography, having specialiced in Contemporary History. Mastered of research with the work El discursu de la periferia. Corrientes federalistes y autonomistes n’Asturies (1808-98). He works as a Secondary teacher in History since 1996. He has being part of the group who elaborated the Curriculum on Social Sciences and Asturian Culture for the Centre for Adult Education of the Asturian Government. He has written two books La revolución de mayu de 1808 –Trabe, 2008- and El nacimientu d’una nación. Historia de Sudáfrica –Araz, 2007- having also participated in other collective researches. Nowadays he’s teaching History, Art and Geography in the IES (Secondary High School) Cuenca del Nalón in La Felguera (Llangréu, Asturies). He is also is a town councillor in Mieres where addresses the areas of Participatory Democracy, Language Policy, Education as well as Democratic Memory since May 2015.
