The Department of Humanities of the University of Trento was founded as Faculty of Humanities in 1982 and acquired its current name and charter in 2012 according to the 2012 reform of higher education. The Department offers ten undergraduate courses and two post-graduate courses, covering a wide range of different disciplines like philosophy, philology, literary studies, history, geography, art history, and archaeology. It employs nearly a hundred professors and researchers, who offer their courses to more than 2600 students. The Department scored one of the highest rankings among Italian universities in the QS University Ranking, the Times Higher Education World University Ranking, and the Censis ranking.
